Life Insurance Specialist Advanced (SA2) builds on the principles covered in Subject SP2 and develops a more in-depth understanding of life insurance business and the environment in which a life insurance company operates. It focuses on the application of actuarial principles to more complex and realistic life insurance scenarios.
The aim of Life Insurance Specialist Advanced (SA2) is to develop a student’s ability to apply actuarial principles, judgement and higher-order skills to the management, planning and control of life insurance business.
It builds on the knowledge and skills developed in earlier subjects, particularly SP2, and seeks to equip students with the advanced technical and strategic understanding that may be required of a qualified actuary working in a life insurance company. The subject covers areas including life insurance markets, regulation, legislation, taxation, financial management, monitoring, risk management and business strategies.
The assessment is 3 hours and 20 minutes long. long.
In the SA subjects, the approximate split of assessment across these three skill types is 10% Knowledge, 50% Application and 40% Higher Order Skills.
